About the Role
Requirements
Responsibilities of the Substitute Teacher will include but are not limited to:
Perform hearing, vision and other health screenings
Treat students and staff as needed to address health and wellness needs
Develop care plans for students with ongoing conditions
Consult with teachers, school administrators and other school staff regarding student care
Administer medication as prescribed to students
Monitor student immunization records
Educate students and staff on health procedures
Help students who have feeding disabilities
Lead efforts and implementation procedures in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak or other infectious diseases
Qualifications for Health and Wellness Coordinator
Lead and support teachers and students with information about nutrition, including class sessions and organized events
Teach students and families about health and wellness when considering fitness and nutrition
Work with the Director of Operations to ensure meals provided are nutritious
Knowledge of school laws and policies
Ability to work independently or with others
BLS/CPR certification
Knowledge of state health regulations
Ability to multitask
Skills and Characteristics
Belief in the Breakthrough Charter School mission and educational model.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Solid technical skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.
Detail-oriented and highly organized.
Highly motivated and capable of seeing projects through from beginning to end.
Ability to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed.
A cheerful and welcoming demeanor.
Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and a “whatever it takes” disposition.
Educational Background and Work Experience
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license
Knowledge of many areas of health including mental health
Compensation
