Substitute Nurse

Responsibilities of the Substitute Teacher will include but are not limited to: 

• Perform hearing, vision and other health screenings

• Treat students and staff as needed to address health and wellness needs

• Develop care plans for students with ongoing conditions

• Consult with teachers, school administrators and other school staff regarding student care

• Administer medication as prescribed to students

• Monitor student immunization records

• Educate students and staff on health procedures

• Help students who have feeding disabilities

• Lead efforts and implementation procedures in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak or other infectious diseases

Qualifications for Health and Wellness Coordinator

• Lead and support teachers and students with information about nutrition, including class sessions and organized events

• Teach students and families about health and wellness when considering fitness and nutrition

• Work with the Director of Operations to ensure meals provided are nutritious

• Knowledge of school laws and policies

• Ability to work independently or with others

• BLS/CPR certification

• Knowledge of state health regulations

• Ability to multitask

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Solid technical skills and experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.

• Detail-oriented and highly organized.

• Highly motivated and capable of seeing projects through from beginning to end.

• Ability to work autonomously as well as take direction as needed.

• A cheerful and welcoming demeanor.

• Maturity, humility, strong work ethic, sense of humor, and a “whatever it takes” disposition.

Educational Background and Work Experience

• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license

• Knowledge of many areas of health including mental health
